At its November 6 meeting the LBF Board of Directors awarded more than $4.1 million in grants to 66 organizations that provide free legal aid to women, children, the elderly, people with disabilities, the newly unemployed, those facing loss of their homes and those in need of guidance to secure food stamps. These grants were awarded in the areas of legal assistance to the poor, children's legal services, law-related education, loan repayment assistance and building capital development (BCD). The grants, excluding, BCD, will be distributed on a quarterly basis over the next 18 months.
