Annual Gala

Coordinates all planning and implementation aspects of the dinner including venue, entertainment, menu, fundraiser, theme, and logistics.
Budget/ Investment

Responsible for fiscal year budget and oversees management of all LBF funds in accordance with the investment policy. Recommends policies to govern the investment and management of funds to the Board of Directors. Works with the Investment Manager and Auditor. The Secretary-Treasurer serves as chair of this committee.
Development

Works with board leadership and the Development Director to identify and cultivate relationships with foundations, corporations, individuals and other potential supporters to ensure the feasibility of LBF projects and programs; recommends policies governing development activities to the Board of Directors; and helps to shape the development program to provide funding for the annual operations budget, endowment, major gifts and special projects. Subcommittee: Grants - Works with Development Director to identify grant opportunities and participates in the grant screening and approval process; Major Gifts - Works with Development Director to identify, cultivate and personally solicit major gifts from individuals; Membership - Works to recruit new fellows, retain existing fellows and on the development of fellow benefits and activities; Public Information - Works to publicize the mission and activities of the Foundation.
Education

Focuses on promoting study and research in the field of law, the diffusion of knowledge thereof, and the continuing education of lawyers. Oversight of the Oral Histories Project, Scholar-in-Residence program (publication and distribution of addresses, reports, treatises and other literary works on legal subjects) and the Legal Archive (acquisition, preservation and exhibition of rare books, documents, art, and other items of significant historical interest to the legal community and general public.

Governance

Ensures the effective and equitable governance of the Foundation by conducting evaluation of relevant procedures and making recommendations to the Board of Directors and Fellowship regarding warranted amendments to the Foundations Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation.
Grants

Chaired by Secretary-Treasurer.
Reviews grant applications and makes recommendations to the Board with respect to the disbursement of funds received by the Foundation through the IOLTA Program, as implemented by Order of the LA Supreme Court. Studies and recommends policies regarding standards by which applications are to be measured and funding decisions are to be made in compliance with the Order.
Iolta Administration/Banking

Recommends policy regarding the identification and pursuit of accounts which have not been enrolled in IOLTA. Reviews patterns of attorneys’ non-compliance and makes recommendations as needed. Oversight of bank participation in the IOLTA program by working to maximize program income and monitor changes in the banking industry. Recommends policies regarding relationships and actions with both participating and non-participating banks.
Judicial Liaison

Serves as liaison between bench and bar to support and enhance professionalism and civility and has oversight of the Distinguished Lecture Series.
Kids' Chance

Oversight of the Kids' Chance Program created to provide educational scholarships to the children of workers who have been seriously, catastrophically, or fatally injured in a work related accident.
